Now that was easy!

Ever put off doing something because you think it's going to be hard to do and you better have plenty of time set aside to it?  I've needed to replace the maintenance cartridge on my big professional photo printer.  It just looked and sounded like a daunting task.  The box with the replacement cartridge arrived and it was BIG--about two feet long, so I just knew this was going to be a complicated task.  The box sat in my office for over a week because I didn't want to deal with it right away.

Anyway, I needed to get the printer working again, so I finally opened the box, opened the printer, and prepared for surgery.  Imagine my surprise when it took me less than a minute to remove the old cartridge and replace the new one.  I kept asking myself, "Was that all there was to that?"

Earlier in the week I needed to format and install a new external hard drive for my computer.  I put that job off for two weeks.  Finally decided it was time to tackle that job and it was a piece of cake.  So why did I procrastinate?

My earlier experiences with previous editions of my office machines had not gone well.  Some thing had taken me days to get right. Sitting on the phone with tech support was not enjoyable.  But that was years ago.  I need to realize that nowadays technology upgrades have gotten much easier and a lot more user-friendly.  I was letting past experiences slow me down and govern my present action--or rather, inaction.

Lesson learned in all of this?  Some things are not as hard (or as bad) as we imagine they will be.  We just need to put the past aside and get into action.
