Focus on Victory
Golf is not only my way of recharging--it's where I get some of my greatest motivation.
I attended the Sony Open which finished Sunday here in Hawaii. (Highlight--got invited to sit in the NBC golf broadcast booth with the announcers!) Conditions on the course were pretty soggy due to 3 days of rain and wind. The winner was quoted in the morning paper about an 8-foot putt to close out his round and send him into a sudden death playoff: "But I knew I had to hole it.... Given the conditions, windy conditions, it does get tricky to putt those shorter putts."
"But I felt as though standing over the putt I kind of already holed it in my mind, if you know what I mean. It was already in, so I just stepped over like I would any other putt, and just try to hit the ball where I thought it needed to start." - Cameron Smith, winner of the 2020 Sony Open.
This is a great example of mindset--the type of steely determination and clear vision that will get you through the toughest times. It's about staying in the present and keeping the focus on what's in front of you.
How's your focus today?
