An Obstacle to Overcome or a Challenge to Change?

I walked into Bootcamp this morning and saw this equipment neatly laid out for us:

My first thought was, "Oh boy, this is going to be a tough workout."  I started thinking of how I'd get through it.  But then I stopped myself.  Instead of looking at the coming workout as something to fight through and overcome, I decided to look at it as a challenge to change.  I had a choice on how I was going to approach today's workout, and I decided to be empowered.  Instead of looking at the equipment as "torture devices", I decided to look at them as the means to making me stronger.

I changed my mindset. And that made all the difference.

In fact, at the end of today's workout, one of the other class members said to me, "You always look so energetic and like you're really enjoying this!" (I'm not sure that's always true, but okay...)  She went on to jokingly say that her attitude is, "What have I gotten myself into?"  I said it's all about changing your mindset.

So you know where I'm going with this....in everyday life we have challenges.  How you decide to approach them will make all the difference.  You can choose to look at things as obstacles to overcome, or you can look at them as challenges that will enable you  to grow and be stronger.  You can enjoy the journey or look at every day as a fight.  I choose to enjoy the journey.

What are you choosing to do today?

P.S.  For those who are interested, I attend Egan's Fit Body Bootcamp in Waipio at 5:45 a.m.  The group is wonderfully supportive in so many ways (we laugh together, we share congratulatory high-5's, we give each other sweaty hugs).  Our instructor Heather Guerrero Wong is truly inspirational and more than amazing.   I always leave with a huge sense of accomplishment and a great deal of self-satisfaction. And that gets my day going in the exact right direction.
