Aren't You Scared to Travel By Yourself?

I was having breakfast in Utah recently and telling a couple of fellow golfers from San Diego about my upcoming bucket-list trip to Sedona. I'd also told them about previous trips I'd taken, lugging my clubs and making my way across different states.

I thought about the question for a moment, and told them my only fear was finding my way out of the airport rental car facility.

Previous to that my biggest fear was being able to lug my golf clubs, my checked bag, and my carry-on through the airport--especially since my rolling bag of clubs is almost as tall as I am. During my last trip to Kansas I figured out how to do all that and it was like a huge worry had been lifted. I also learned that there are always people willing to help you (with a baggage cart) if you only ask.

Taking a week to unwind in Sedona after the intensity of a golf competition was exactly what I needed. The trip also helped me overcome that fear of navigating my way out of the Phoenix airport with a rental car, and making the solitary drive to Sedona.

Sedona has been more than just a vacation--it's been an affirmation of allowing and trusting in flow. It's given me time to reset, breathe, and get clarity. I arrived with just my rental car, a hotel reservation, and a short list of things I wanted to see and do. Just me and an open schedule. And Sedona delivered. It was fabulous.

I sat in the energy of several vortexes, each one with a different energetic feel. I photographed the uplifting rock formations, each with a name and a story. I strolled through the shops of Sedona, purchasing some gemstones and taking a trolley to one of the canyons. I got a psychic reading--you can't go to Sedona and not get a reading. It was fabulous, accurate, and gave me additional clarity and insight. She told me I'm a healer, and I must continue to offer the readings I do and some other things to help others. I slept in a fabulous suite with a fireplace which I had to turn on just for the ambience, despite the temps being in the 90's. I drove along mountain switchbacks and crossed a bridge over a deep gorge--conquering my fears of heights and driving in unfamiliar places.

One of the things I loved the most about Sedona is the people--every shopkeeper, every stranger I spoke to--all were so enthusiastic to talk about the energy here, about crystals, chakras, meditation and more. No hesitation to talk about UFO's, star-gazing, psychics, and spiritual messages. LOL--these are my people!! The open-mindedness and acceptance was so refreshing.

Sedona was a most magical adventure. I'll be back.

And no, I'm not scared to travel by myself...it's empowering! You never know what you can do until you try.
